Relay Selection Guide

When correctly selected and interfaced, fitment of Dold Safety Relays will allow your control system to conform with the current safety standards required for CE certification. They are used and specified by many leading machinery manufacturers with Dold Industries.

Condition 'O' Uncontrolled Stop

Stopping by immediate removal of power to all actuators. This should be achieved by hard wired electromechanical components and its function shall not depend on software or electronic logic. This form of stopping is sufficient if removal of all power allows the machine to stop in a fast and safe manner.

Condition '1' Controlled Stop

This enables power to be maintained on the machine actuators that are essential to allow the machine to stop in a safe and fast manner, e.g. DC injection brakes, drive systems etc. After stopping is achieved, power must then be removed from all actuators via an electromechanical switching device. Dold safety relays are designed for use on risk applications 1-2-3-4 where conventional relays are not considered reliable. They provide the necessary redundancy, cross monitoring and self checking features mentioned in the EN Standards, and are suitable for single or dual channel installations.
