GBIC Gigabit / Fast
Ethernet Switches |

What's a GBIC? GBIC is an Abbreviation for GigaBit Interface Converter, a transceiver that converts serial electronic signals to optical signals and vice versa. In networking, a GBIC is used to interface a fiber optic system with an Ethernet system, such a Fiber Channel and Gigabit Ethernet. A GBIC allows designers to create one type of device that can be adapted for either optical or copper applications. Also GBICs are hot-swappable, which adds to the ease of upgrading high performance electro-optical communication networks. |

Unicom's SmartGST-2402M managed switch is the newest generation of fast Ethernet switching technology. Enhanced by it's many features including an optional Gigabit Ethernet module, port trunking, VLAN tagging, spanning tree, and broadcast storm filters, this switch is a great solution for campus and enterprise networks. Twenty-four 10/100Base-TX auto sensing, auto MDI/MDIX ports provide a completely flexible high-performance non-blocking full wire speed solution. The optional 2 port 1000Base-SX/LX or 10/100/1000Base-T Module offers high-speed long haul connections that eliminate bottlenecks to create the ideal backbone. The SmartGST-2402M management features include GVRP, IGMP Snooping, port-based, dynamic and static VLANs, VLAN tagging, port mirroring and port security. Two priority queues per port insure minimum delay for voice over IP or multimedia broadcasting. Network management can be accessed via Telnet or browser from anywhere on the network or via a console port at the switch. Power: 110/220V AC, 19" Rackmount |

Unicom's Versa-Switch/801F is a high performance, 8 Port 10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch with fiber designed for small work group applications. This switch features a fiber optic port available in SC, ST, MT-RJ, or VF-45 versions for powerful expansion or even fiber to the desktop! This switch provides eight (8) 10/100Mbps RJ-45 Unshielded Twisted-Pair ports with both an Auto MDI-MDIX Crossover function that provides uplink from any port and an Auto-Negotiation function that automatically detects the speed of the device that you plug into it; either 10 or 100Mbps. The Versa-Switch/801F has a dedicated 10/100Mbps bandwidth and in full-duplex operation mode, the bandwidth for each port effectively doubles, up to 200Mbps. The fiber optic modules are available in Multi-Mode ST, SC, MT-RJ, and VF-45 version for distances up to 2,000m and a Single Mode SC version for distances up to 15,000m. These ports can be used as a fiber uplink in a WAN setting or as a direct link in a LAN for fiber to the desktop". |

The DynaGST/1602G and 2402G Gigabit Ethernet switches are an ideal solution for solving traffic congestion at the core of the network. They offer auto-negotiation 10/100/1000Base-T Gigabit Ethernet ports that can significantly improve your network backbone performance. They will also fit into any enterprise level network as an exit to the backbone switch. The DynaGST switches provide two mini GBIC Gigabit slots for Gigabit speed network connections. Both DynaGST Gigabit Ethernet switches feature an Auto MDI/MDIX function for each port and support store-and-forward switching. They auto-learn and store source addresses on a 4K MAC address table. The DynaGST/1602G and 2402G are ideal for school, campus, and enterprise applications. With their GBIC modules, it's easy to interface a layer III switch with multiple LANs. When used with a media chassis at the server side and the Versa-Switch/801F at the remote end, you can extend your connection to sites such as classrooms, campus facilities, and remote offices. |

Unicom's MicroGST are desktop Gigabit Ethernet switches ideal for solving traffic congestion at the core of the network. They offer auto-negotiation 10/100/1000Base-T Gigabit Ethernet ports that can significantly improve your network backbone performance and will fit into any enterprise level network as an entrance to the backbone switch. For enterprise networks where large data broadcasts are constantly processed, these switches are an ideal link between departmental switches and the core switch. All workstations can connect to departmental switches and those switches are then connected to the MicroGST/5 and 8 switches. Now all the devices in this network can communicate with each other. Connecting servers to the core switch is important because it allows each workstation to access the server's data. This switch is designed for backbone connectivity. In the above example, servers, department switches, and workstations are directly connected to the MicroGST switches. |
